Josep Maria Subirachs (1927-2014) was a Catalan sculptor, painter and engraver, renowned for the diversity of styles and periods he covered in his career. Initially influenced by Noucentisme, Subirachs evolved towards an expressionist style between 1953 and 1957, focusing on emotional representation and dramatic forms. This stage culminated in the sculptural ensemble for the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Camino in León, inaugurated in 1961, where he combined strength and spirituality, showing his ability to fuse the traditional with the contemporary.
